Pizza Making Class for Beginners
A hands-on introduction to making delicious pizza at home
A little history: Pizza as we know it today evolved in Naples, Italy, where simple flatbreads were topped with ingredients such as tomatoes, cheese and herbs. Over time, it travelled across the world and became one of the most loved foods today.
What makes a good pizza?
Making pizza is more than simply adding toppings to dough. The dough, fermentation, shaping, sauce, toppings and baking temperature all work together to create the final texture and flavour. Small changes in hydration, thickness and baking time can produce a very different pizza.
What this beginner class covers
Pizza Dough — Understanding basic ingredients, kneading, resting and fermentation.
Shaping the Dough — Learning how to stretch and shape the dough without losing its airiness.
Thin & Thick Pizzas — Understanding how dough thickness affects texture and baking.
Sauce & Toppings — Choosing the right sauce, cheese and toppings and learning how much to use.
Baking — Understanding temperature, baking time and how to achieve a good crust.
Three simple tips
- Don't overload the pizza. Too many toppings can make the centre soggy.
- Give the dough enough time to rest and rise. Good pizza starts with good dough.
- Bake hot and fast. A high temperature helps create a crisp outside and a soft, well-baked centre.
The goal of this class is simple: understand the basics, practise the techniques and leave with the confidence to make your own pizza at home.
