Pazham Pori - golden fritters
Pazham Pori – Kerala’s Golden Evening Snack 🌧️☕
There’s something comforting about the smell of ripe bananas dipped in batter and fried to crispy perfection. That’s Pazham Pori – a beloved snack in every Kerala home, especially during rainy evenings with a hot cup of tea.
Made using ethakka (ripe Kerala plantains), these golden fritters are coated in a lightly sweetened flour batter and deep-fried till crisp on the outside and soft inside. The natural sweetness of the banana shines through, making it a favorite for kids and grownups alike!
Did you know?
A delicious variation of this snack is made using ripe jackfruit slices!
The method is the same — dip the jackfruit in the same batter and fry. The result? A tropical twist with that unmistakable jackfruit aroma and flavor, equally crispy and indulgent.
Whether it's pazham pori or chakka pori (jackfruit fritters), these snacks carry a nostalgic taste of Kerala — simple, homemade, and ideal snack for evening tea-time.
Also, if you like to skip the oil in the frying, then you can use air fryer to make pazham pori! Try it out!
