Method to make Idly
- Rice - 3 cups
- Black gram dal - 1 cup
- Salt to taste
Method to make Idly
- Soak the rice and black gram dal separately for 4 to 5 hours
- Clean the rice and dal throughly and drain.
- Grind the rice to a thick paste, adding a little salt to the dough.
- The rice paste should be little coarse to touch.
- Grind the soaked dal to a very fine smooth paste.
- Mix both the paste throughly in a large vessel and keep overnight to ferment.
- Pour batter in Idly cooker and steam well.
- Serve hot with sambar or coconut chutney.
